Movies for Class? Yes Please!
Today was the second day of classes and I can already tell Tuesday's will be one of my favorite days. Why? (Besides the fact that I only have class from 9am-12:45pm) I am taking a class where we literally just watch and analyze some of my favorite Italian films! Today we watched one of my all time favorites, called L'ultimo Bacio. That's all we did. And our professor said she never gives more than 20 pages of reading at a time because she only picks out what we will need to know for the final. Does it get any better than this? Oh, it does! The film screenings (again, movies that I LOVE) are pretty much mandatory. No complaints here!
After my History of Italian Cinema class, I had to meet with the registrar about Italian class which has turned into a huge ordeal that I'm not very happy about. It turns out that instead of being scheduled like a normal class, the teacher picks a time for the class to meet once everyone has their schedules. Well, I can't go to any of the meeting times that she picked so I have to drop Italian, and there's no other way for me to take it. So that's a huge disappointment... That was one of the biggest reasons I wanted to study abroad in Italy again. If I knew there was a possibility of me not being able to take it, I probably would have studied abroad somewhere else where I would be able to study the language.
Luckily two of my roommates were done with class so I was able to go out and explore the city more with them. We tried to do a little shopping, but all the shops were closed for siesta time (yes, that is a thing here... Italians take siesta VERY seriously). But the streets were still pretty!
We also saw some yummy looking Italian pasta being made, but unfortunately the store was closed for siesta... I'll have to find it again!

Since nothing else was open, my roommates and I decided to wander around the leather market for a while, but we must not have been in a shopping mood because no one bought anything. Eventually, we headed home. Below is a picture I took from the ground floor looking up at all the stairs we have to climb everyday to get to our apartment. Between that and walking, I'd say we are getting enough exercise!
Well, ciao for now!
