Shipping Tembo
Today I got up earlier than usual to go ship all of my sculpture pieces back to the States. I could have taken a taxi across the river, but the shipping company is only a 15-20 minute walk from my apartment so I decided to carry everything. I got a good workout because I had my plaster horses and my small elephant sculptures in a large purse and I carried my big elephant. Tembo, my elephant, got a lot of comments from people passing by. When I was almost to the shipping company, I had to stop to give my shoulder a rest. Tembo took that time to do a little sightseeing along the Arno, and of course pose for a photo op!
I got back home less than an hour later, and then I had to go to sculpture where we finished the group critique. I am now officially done with my sculpture class which means I don't have to go to class on Mondays or Wednesdays for the remaining three weeks of the semester. Sculpture was my only class on those days, so that means I get three day weekends and I get Wednesdays off. Yay!
I went into the studio to do a little more work on my ceramics final. Here's a better picture of my hippo (it has a tail but you can't see it in the picture).
I also started my elephant, though I only did the head today. I'll do the rest tomorrow before or during class. The head itself took 1 1/2 hours, so by the time I finished it I was tired and wanted to go home.
When I got home, I decided to book a weekend trip to the Amalfi Coast as a little end of the semester reward and a getaway from Florence. I am super excited about it! In the meantime, I had to change my horseback riding day from Saturday to Monday because it is supposed to rain all day over the weekend. Hopefully Monday's forecast will remain sunny and warm!
Ciao for now!
