Adventure Awaits in Africa
20 days. Six African
countries. Another Title adventure… This time, we’ll be
traveling all around Africa so I can photograph more wildlife and learn even more about
wildlife conservation... not mention check off a long-time bucket list
destination! For those of you who know me, you already know what that is. For those of you who don't... Well, keep reading. We’ll be traveling to…
Tanzania. My home away home. I’ve been
to Tanzania six times and have never seen a leopard. Maybe this will be the
lucky trip?
Madagascar. This destination
had me stressing out. It’s been my dream to go photograph lemurs, but this year
Madagascar saw a really bad case of plague. For a while, we didn’t even
know if we’d get to go. Here, we’ll be spending time in
Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, a dense rain forest home to the largest
species of lemur, more than 50 types of reptiles and more than 100 types of
birds, plus wild orchids.
South Africa. We’ll be
visiting Robben Island in Cape Town, where Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27
years in prison. We’ll also visit the District Six Museum, dedicated to
the community that was forcibly removed during the apartheid. Continuing on to
Johannesburg, we’ll visit Rising Star cave where paleoanthropologists
have excavated more than 1,550 fossils.
Namibia. I’ll be
taking a helicopter ride over the dramatic landscapes where the sand dunes meet
the sea. We’ll also head out into the desert for some dune
driving!
Botswana. We’ll be
traveling to the Okavango Delta in search of elephants, cheetahs, hyenas,
endangered wild dogs, and more.
Rwanda. Unfortunately due to
my altitude sickness, I will not be seeing the gorillas on this trip. Instead,
we’ll
be in Kigali visiting the Genocide Memorial as well as local artist workshops.
20 days of photographing non-stop.
20 days of exploration. 20 days of being on my favorite continent. Africa, I’m ready
for you!
