First Sculpture Project... Check!

Today was an exciting day. Why? Because after making a clay sculpture, covering it in 2 layers of plaster, filling the plaster mold with more plaster, chipping away all three layers of plaster with a chisel and hammer, and smoothing, adding more plaster to damaged parts, and making grooves deeper to pop, I am now done with my first sculpture project.. My horses! This process was incredibly long, but for the most part it was pretty fun. I'm so glad I am in this class, because as a graphic design major I don't get to do a lot of hands-on work and when I do get to do it, it's never three dimensional. This requires a completely different thought process, and is probably my favorite class that I am taking here.

Here's a close up.

As it airs out more on the shelf, it will become even a brighter white and as the water from the plaster drains, it will become lighter weight-wise.

The rest of my day was spent going to the mailbox, getting ahead on my Italian Cinema reading (well... ahead is an understatement. I did all the reading. For the rest of the semester. And took notes.) and downloading NCIS.

Tomorrow is my long day (Italian Cinema and Ceramics) so..

Ciao for now!
