Galapagos Bound
I woke up to my blaring alarm. As I fumbled around my room getting my things together, it began to sink in . . . I'm going back to the Galapagos Islands. The last time I was here, I was in the fourth grade. I don't remember a whole lot, other than touching a cactus and having a sea lion walk right up to me as I was building a sandcastle. As I made my way into the pitch black morning, I thought about how this trip could further my love for wildlife and more specifically, conservation.
I looked back upon all my photographs to see if I'd remember more about the animals, but all I remembered what what my mom had told me and what I had learned in marine biology. I'm most excited for the sea lions. . . They have so much character! I slept most of the flight so it would feel like we arrived in Guayaquil faster.
Upon arriving in Guayaquil, I was asked many, many questions since I have been to Ecuador in the past. I kept explaining that I came with my old passport (which is now full) but the lady had a hard time understanding me. Finally, I got my bag and went outside. I don't think I'll every forget people screaming at the HUGE crickets! I wonder why they're so large here?!
