Puzzle Pieces
Today went by pretty quickly. I had museology early in the morning, and afterwards I went to the student lounge to print some papers. Instead of my usual nap after my Friday class (it's a 9am class) I decided to go to the ceramic studio to work. I love going there when no one else is there!
Before I started working on my safari animals, I played match the puzzle pieces with my rhino. I had thought he was un-saveable but the pieces fit together pretty well, with very minor cracks in between so I am going to try to glue him back together if I can find a strong enough glue. I have a glue in mind, but have to ask the conservation professor if I can borrow it from the lab and ask my ceramics teacher if that is even the best glue to use. So, it's not yet set in stone that I can fix him but I'm a lot more hopeful than I was up until now. He's my favorite piece, so I really hope the glue will work. If you see a few cracks after I glue him and paint him, I'll just have to live with it. Updates to come next week... Hopefully it's good news. Keep your fingers crossed for my Msanii.
Once I finished playing puzzle and put the pieces in a way that they will hopefully stay until class on Tuesday, I began another safari animal. Today's animal is a wildebeest, pictured below. He'll look a lot better when he's painted!
The safari crew is coming along nicely. I now have six animals complete. I have a wart hog, an elephant, a wildebeest, a giraffe, a rhino, and a hippo. Technically, I don't have to do any more but it's supposed to rain all day tomorrow so instead of staying in the apartment all day I may go to the studio to do another animal. I will also do some on Tuesday before the allotted painting day on Thursday.
That's it for today so...
Ciao for now!
