Shopping Spree!
Today, we were going to go to Burano but instead, we slept in and had a shopping day. It would have taken over an hour to get to Burano and over an hour to get back, and we were tired from the night before so we decided to shop instead. It was a very productive shopping day and there weren't a lot of tourists out which was nice. Piazza San Marco was nearly empty, whereas in the summer time you can hardly walk in the square.
Even though Carnival is over, I still love looking at all the Venetian masks! Fun fact: the king of Venice always wore a sun mask and the queen of Venice always wore a moon mask, which is why you'll find so many moon and sun masks in Venice. Red and gold, like on the mask below, are also Venice's colors. We didn't buy this mask, but I thought it was really pretty!
I also love all the canals, so I have a million pictures of them even though they look the same for the most part. I like the picture below, however, because you can see the Hard Rock Cafe Venezia in the background!
Below is my favorite purchase of the day... a Murano glass charm bracelet with charms of 1) the shape of Italy with "Italy" written on it 2) a typical Venetian mask 3) the Colosseum that says "Colosseo" on the bottom 4) a gondola and gondolier 5) the Ponte Vecchio 6) the Leaning Tower of Pisa and 7) the lion of Venice that says "Venice" on one side and "Marco" (for Piazza San Marco" on the other side
We also took a walk around the Realto bridge, where there was this nice view.
We are leaving Venice early in the morning to go back to Florence so...
Ciao for now!
