International Women's Day
Today was a sad day, since it was my mom's last day in Florence. We went out for a morning coffee, and then took one last walk throughout Florence. It was a nice, sunny day today but it was very windy so we didn't want to stay out too long. But, we walked around the Ponte Vecchio, which was really pretty.
And of course that called for one more tourist selfie.
My mom also wanted to go to my favorite pizza place one more time (it's the best pizza in Italy)! Usually, it is pretty crowded but since it was a Sunday, we went right when it opened and it was nearly empty.
We were the first in line, and our pizzas came really quickly! Below are our heart shaped margherita and pesto pizzas.
On the way home, we passed some men playing Italian music in my favorite piazza, Piazza della Repubblica, which was nice. There was also a small farmers market for International Women's Day where vendors were selling yellow mimosas (flowers). In Italy, it is customary for men to give women these flowers to celebrate International Women's Day. The vendors were also selling honey, wine, etc.
Well, my spring break went by too quickly and I felt like my mom was here for only a few days but I'm more than halfway done with my study abroad. It's back to school tomorrow so...
Ciao for now!
