Ciao, Venezia

Today was a very long day. We were able to sleep in, which was nice, before doing some last minute shopping in Rome. In the mid afternoon, we took a train from Rome to Venice which took over 3 1/2 hours because of delays. But, we finally made it here!

We had fun taking a water taxi from the train station to the hotel. The canals all confuse me and I'm very disoriented right now (partially because it was dark by the time we finally went out to dinner). I love looking at all the bridges and buildings on the water and I will probably have a million of the same pictures, but oh well!

For dinner, I was feeling super American and burger deprived so my mom and I went to the Hard Rock Cafe in Venice, which just so happens to be only a few blocks from our hotel. Of course I also had to have a milkshake! The waitress also brought us free onion rings, which was really nice. Everyone here (and everyone in Rome) is so much nicer than the people in Florence!

Tomorrow is our only full day in Venice, and we will be very busy visiting Burano and shopping for murano glass, Venetian masks, etc. so...

Ciao for now!
