Charming Lucca

Today was a spontaneous day. In the morning, my mom and I went to the central market to buy more balsamic vinegar glaze, fresh parmesan, and dried fruit. We then decided to go to the train station to go to Lucca, which is only an hour and a half away. Below is a picture of the Lucca cathedral.

There also was a chocolate festival in one of the piazzas, which just so happened to be the same one that was in Florence a few weeks prior. Of course, I had to buy more of the chocolate spread from the same vendor!

Throughout Italy, I've seen horses and carriages that will take you around the city for 30-60 minutes. I've been wanting to take a ride, and today we finally did! I was a very happy camper.

We went all around Lucca, which turned out very nicely since the city ended up being pretty spread out. The horse was very well trained and it was an enjoyable ride throughout the city!

I like horses, if you couldn't tell.

The horse and carriage dropped us off at the city's main gate, which was pretty convenient for us since we were heading back to the train station. Below is a picture taken from inside the city, looking out to the other side of the wall.

And below is a shot of the wall that surrounds the entire city.

After taking a few last pictures, it was time to head back to the train station. Below is the outside of the station, which I thought was beautiful with all the columns and the sea-foam green color!

Tomorrow is my mom's last full day in Florence (nooooooooo :(  too soon....) so....

Ciao for now!
